RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Open package only when ready to use.
  • Maintain a constant and effective agitation during application.
  • Use filters with openings of at least 0.28 mm (50 mesh).
  • Calibrate the application system to apply the right dose of inoculant.
  • Ensure that the tank and liquid application system are clean and free of any chemicals.
  • Ensure that the temperature of the mixture in the tank does not exceed 35 °C (95 °F).
  • Apply within 6 hours after mixing into the tank.
  • Respect the best before date on the label.

Mix only with compatible products. Refer to the complete list of compatible pesticides or liquid fertilizers. In some cases, tank mixing with pesticides can result in reduced pesticide efficacy or increased host crop injury. The user should contact the registrant of the pesticide for information before applying any tank mix.

STORAGE AND HANDLING

  • Avoid severe temperature variations.
  • Handle in a well-ventilated area.
  • Wear eye protection and gloves when handling the product.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The recommended rate comes from the result of trials performed by Premier Tech or third-party consultants and assure a good root colonization and its benefits. They are designed to determine the minimum and/or optimal application rate of the inoculum. They are also required for product registration by any country’s regulatory authority that ask for a product efficacy assessment. If the user goes below the recommended rate, there’s a great probability that the symbiosis will not occur, occur unevenly on some plants, be delayed and at the end, the plants would not get the expected benefits.

No, mycorrhizal products enable the plant to form the mycorrhizal symbiosis, leading to the uptake of nutrients and water to the plant by the fungus. Fertilizers supply the nutrients to the soil to "feed" the plants. These are two distinct functions. Mycorrhizae do not add any nutrient in the soil, but help the plant to reach and absorb it. Mycorrhizal products form part of the inoculants.

Yes. Premier Tech has developed a method that allows us to test the mycorrhizal viability with most products available on the market. Consult the approved pesticide list.

Both endomycorrhizae and ectomycorrhizae are symbiotic associations between fungi and plants. The fungi implied in these associations belong to the fungus kingdom and are present in all continents, but they differ in their taxa, morphologies and life cycle. Endomycorrhizal fungi appeared some 450 million years ago and the ecto later around 200 to 250 million years ago.

Endomycorrhizae comprises the AMF (arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi), the ericoid, arbutoid, monotropoid and orchid mycorrhizae. The most abundant and prolific type of mycorrhizal fungus is the AMF which colonizes 80% of plant families and whose hyphae penetrate plant cortex cells, producing branching tree like structures called arbuscules, which greatly increase the contact surface area as a mean of nutrient exchange. In fact, the fungal hyphae do not penetrate the cell protoplast but invaginate the cell membrane (just like wearing a glove). The endo species are not plant specific and can colonize all receptive plant species. They are obligate symbionts, which means they need the presence of a plant to realize their life cycle and survive.

In contrast, ectomycorrhizae are typically formed between the fungus and the roots of around 7% of plant species, mostly woody plants including most conifers and some broadleaves such as oak, birch, beech and linden. Some are specific and symbiotic with only one species while others are generalists and form mycorrhizae with many different plants. Ectomycorrhizae consist of a hyphal mantle, covering the root tip with a Hartig net of hyphae surrounding root plant cells. Outside the root, the fungus forms an extensive network within soil and leaf litter. The fungus has a dual saprotrophic and biotrophic lifestyle that enables it to grow within both soil and living plant roots.
